Scholarship Opportunities

Need-based scholarships are for anyone experiencing family hardship regardless of financial status. Anyone can apply for a need-based scholarship. Families may choose to apply for a need-based scholarship instead of an income-based scholarship, or they may choose to apply for one in addition to an income-based scholarship.

 

Applicants will be asked to provide general information about the hardship their family is currently experiencing.

To apply for a need-based scholarship, families will pay the $25 registration fee and complete the application within the registration form. All applications will be reviewed by our scholarship committee- applicants will be notified by email about the amount of scholarship awarded and next steps.

 

All applications must be received no later than one week prior to the start of rehearsals in order to be considered. If the semester has already started, please reach out to us at info@berksyouthchorus.org.

BYC recognizes that household income and family size play a crucial role in a family’s ability to enroll their child in extracurricular programming. To make our programming accessible to families of all financial status, size, and circumstances, we encourage all families to apply for an Income-Tiered Scholarship.

Based on the US Department of Health and Human Services Annual Poverty Guidelines, BYC uses applicants’ gross household income range and household size to determine the amount of scholarship awarded. To maintain applicants’ privacy, we use income ranges rather than exact figures. Applicant’s may request a manual calculation using their exact gross household income for a more precise scholarship determination.​
